the tragedy of seeing something as breathtakingly beautiful as i saw today is not being able to make others understand how unbelievable it really was. this shitty pasted together bunch of iphone photos doesnt come close to conveying the sense of awe that the horribly named “lake 22″ hike instilled in me today. you cant see the 10-15 water falls running down the rock face, or smell the freshest air ive breathed in months, you cant feel the tranquility of realizing you dont hear a single sound originating from a human being or man made object. and to think we were about to give up on this trail when we were right around the corner from this spot. i fall more in love with this city every year.

a group of scientists in europe have built and are going to be switching on a machine that could potentially open a black hole on this planet. the large hadron collider (LHC) is the largest device of its type ever constructed and will send protons speeding around its 17 mile circumference eventually smashing them together to simulate the big bang. thats right, theres a group of people out there who think its reasonable to try to simulate a explosion so fucking huge that it supposedly created the universe. besides a cataclysmic explosion and a black hole there is a chance the machine will turn all nuclei in the planet to strange matter. sorry dudes but even the smallest possibility of any one of these fucking things happening should be enough to deter you from turning this thing on. science needs to stop being about “can we?” and more about “should we?”
